Beatrice Weder di Mauro is the first woman to become a Member of the German Council of Economic Experts. She is Professor of Economics at the University of Mainz and Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, (CEPR) London. She has worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund and at the World Bank and has held visiting positions at Harvard University and the United Nations University. She is on the Council of Economic Advisors of Switzerland and has served as a Consultant for various international organizations, including the International Finance Corporation; the World Bank; the IMF; the United Nations University; the OECD Development Centre. Her research interests are in international macroeconomics (particularly financial crises), emerging markets finance, monetary policy, growth and development. Beatrice holds a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Basel.
