Began journalistic career after graduating from high school. Worked for a local newspaper in Southern India. Joined a business newspaper in Calcutta and moved to Delhi and Bombay, reporting business news for magazines. 1995, relocated to Hong Kong and joined the Far Eastern Economic Review. Has covered Iraq since the beginning of the US-led invasion in 2003. Has reported extensively in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Tunisia.
