Alongside his work as an economist, Brad is also a well-respected community leader in New Zealand, being a Justice of the Peace, and a member of various community organisations. In 2016, Brad was named as New Zealand's Queen's Young Leader, receiving a medal from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to youth. In 2021, he was named Young Wellingtonian of the Year for 2020.
