Brian Bell

Alumni, Global Shapers Community

I'm an engineer by training, MBA candidate by practice, and startup advisor by passion.

Prior to starting my MBA at Berkeley, as Director of Programs with Agora Partnerships I led our consulting programs serving 60+ social enterprises per year in Latin America and the Caribbean while based in Mexico City. Through my career in entrepreneurship acceleration, I've become experienced in managing distributed teams, developing strategy and operations within growing organizations, creating win-win partnerships, and advising early- and growth-stage companies in Latin America and South Asia.

Before Agora, my teams and I co-created Minnesota’s first university impact venture incubator, Acara, and impact angel investing group, IMNPACT Angels, catalyzing $1 million+ in investments and supporting dozens of entrepreneurs. I've also had the opportunity to co-lead growth of an international engineering non-profit in the US, develop productive public spaces in slums in Kenya, implement water supply solutions in rural Uganda, and manage social science field research studies in Nepal and India. I am a proud member of the Global Shapers Community, hold a Certificate in Social Enterprise Management and Impact Investing through Frontier Market Scouts from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, am a StartingBloc Fellow, and hold degrees in Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota and Sustainable Development at Utrecht University.

An amateur photographer, culinary enthusiast, avid traveler, I love running and cycling daily, climbing and playing squash, trekking in mountain regions and exploring new destinations.

I'm grateful to have lived in nine countries on five continents so far, and to have created wonderful friendships, teams, and businesses along the way.
