Caroline Lustenberger, PD Dr. sc. is a neuroscientist, author, and lecturer at ETH Zurich, where she leads the Sleep Lab within the Neural Control of Movement Lab. With 15+ years in sleep and systems neuroscience research, she is internationally recognized for pioneering closed‑loop neuromodulation to improve sleep and strengthen brain–body health, with a focus on cardiovascular function and public‑health innovation. Her research bridges rigorous laboratory science with real‑world applications and digital biomarkers. Her contributions are published in leading peer‑reviewed journals and have been supported by competitive national and international grants. In 2024 she received the ETH venia legendi in Neuroscience.
Caroline is also co‑founder of HERENCIA Solutions AG, a social enterprise and ETH Zurich spin-off working with the world’s largest genetic cohort at risk for early‑onset Alzheimer’s in Colombia to identify earliest biomarkers, accelerate preventive therapies, and build local infrastructure for diagnosis, care, and education.
Beyond academia, Caroline is a recognised science communicator, entrepreneur, and keynote speaker.
