Bachelor's degree, Williams College; Master's degree, University of Chicago; PhD in Anthropology, Columbia University. Extensive experience researching the mobility patterns of the working poor. Formerly: Senior Vice-President, Asset Building, Seedco, a national workforce development intermediary, responsible for the growth and operation of national initiatives that connect low-wage workers to income-enhancing benefits and services; with the Ford Foundation, focused on promoting economic advancement for low-income workers by improving access to workforce development and work support programmes. Currently, Senior Programme Director, Workforce Development, JPMorgan Chase; leads New Skills at Work, a 5-year $250 million initiative to help workers and industries invest in the skills needed to compete and prosper in the global economy. Has taught urban studies at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs and at Barnard College.
