1974, PhD, London School of Economics. Since 1976, Faculty Member, London School of Economics; currently, Regius Professor. Concurrently, Professor of European Studies, Cyprus University. Fellow of many learned societies, including: the British Academy; Academia Europeae; Academy of Athens. Recipient of awards and honours, including the Nobel Prize in Economics (2010). Expertise: the economics of labour markets with special emphasis on automation technologies and jobs, unemployment, structural change, macroeconomic policy and European integration.
