Clement Agoni is a research scientist with an innate passion for youth and community development. He holds a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, a master's, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Clement's research focuses on structural bioinformatics, computer-aided drug design and molecular modelling. He was appointed as a postdoctoral research fellow at the department of pharmaceutical sciences at the Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa, in 2021 until he moved to Ireland as a research fellow at University College Dublin under the prestigious Marie Curie CareerFit Plus fellowship.
As a member of the Durban hub of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community in South Africa, Clement led the hub's health and awareness drive project to provide health education and medical services to rural communities within the eThekweni municipality. He was elected curator of the Durban hub in 2020, during which period he championed the "ShapersCare" project initiated in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide
100,000 food and hygiene hampers to households that needed support in the city of Durban and its environs. "ShapersCare" was shortlisted and showcased among the top five impactful covid-19 projects with the Global Shapers Community in 2020. Clement was subsequently selected to serve on the 11-member COVID-19 Steering Committee of the Global Shapers Community, where together with other committee members, were tasked to inspire, empower and connect the Global Shapers Community's work on COVID-19. Clement is also a trained Climate Reality Leader and was selected to attend the 2019 World Economic Forum on Africa in 2019 as an agenda contributor.
