Daniel Duke Odongo

Director of Technology, Ushahidi

A seasoned digital transformation leader with over 10 years of experience in strategy development and technology implementation. Daniel brings a strong work ethic and a passion for social impact and local innovation. Daniel is a member of both the Connected Futures Initiative and the Resilient Governance and Regulation working group of the AI Governance Alliance at the World Economic Forum.

Currently the Director of Technology at Ushahidi, Daniel stewards Product and Engineering teams towards the org vision of ensuring that people everywhere can easily gather data and create insights that help them tackle the problems that matter to them most. Daniel also previously provided leadership to Product and Implementation teams at Ushahidi.

Previously, Daniel served as Engagement Lead for the GIZ-supported Digital Human Rights Lab, where he was tasked with enhancing the visibility of the human rights practitioners in Uganda by infusing innovation in their work through the use of digital infrastructure, competencies and instruments. Before that, Daniel contributed in various capacities to Africa-focused public sector initiatives by Microsoft and Google. He has also supported research and training programs in a consulting capacity for DW Akademie, Code for Africa, Media Challenge Initiative, JET Education Services and SHONA.

Daniel's personal interests are in representation, accessibility and inclusivity. He is an alumni of the McKinsey's Forward Program and Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center, East Africa. He is also a certified GIZ GovStack Professional.
