David Fitzsimons

Director, European Remanufacturing Council

Working with companies that practise product life extension processes such as remanufacturing, refurbishment, reconditioning, inverse manufacturing, overhaul and planned maintenance. Expert contributor to ISO 59000 series on Circular Economy. Why does Re-Manufacturing matter? 45% of global CO2 emissions are sourced from the life cycle of products - extending the life of products at an industrial scale is already worth €100 billion globally but is less than 2% of equivalent new manufacturing. And take a look at the companies that are developing their expertise in this area...HP (E) Volvo Cars Siemens, John Deere, Lexmark, SKF, Michelin, Lenovo, Dell, Ricoh, Brother amongst others. It's difficult but it's necessary. 2% is too little.
