David Isenegger is Group Chief of Staff (appointed 2018) and Group Head of M&A (appointed 2014). He joined Centrica in 2010 as General Counsel, Centrica Energy. Prior to joining Centrica he held senior legal roles in Shell, including Head of Legal for Shell UK’s E&P business and Senior Counsel responsible for Shell International’s oil, gas and transportation transactions and joint ventures in Iran and Kazakhstan. Before Shell he had a senior legal role with the Sasol Group, where he developed gas to liquids and chemicals projects and joint ventures in the Middle East, West Africa and Japan. He spent 2 years as a Team Leader with the United Nations Security Council in Geneva resolving energy sector claims against Iraq from the first Gulf War. His legal career began in private practice in Calgary. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta and qualified as a lawyer in Canada and England. He also served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy reaching the rank of Lieutenant.
