Erina Ytsma

Assistant Professor, Carnegie Mellon University

Erina Ytsma is an Assistant Professor at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and a research affiliate at MIT Sloan. She holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, an MPhil in Economics from Tilburg University, and a BSc in Science from University College Utrecht.
Erina’s research combines theory with empirical methods and novel data to study the organization of work in the digital age and knowledge economy. Her work aims to address two broad questions. How is digitization affecting work and employment relationships? And how should we organize work such that workers are productive, happy and innovative, and sustainably so?
Erina's work has been awarded the MAS Midyear 2020 Outstanding Paper Award, the CMU Lave-Weil Prize 2018-2019 and the 2018 IOEA Accessit Best Paper Award. She was also awarded research grants for her work from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and CMU's Block Center for Technology and Society.
