Fernando Armindo Lugo Méndez

Degree as Primary School Teacher; degree in Religious Sciences, Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. 1975, took vows as Catholic priest; 1975-80, missionary in remote part of Ecuador; four years studying in Rome; 1994, Bishop, San Pedro diocese, Paraguay; organized Resistencia Ciudadana (Civilian Resistance), a union of political parties and social organizations; 2006, resigned as Bishop to go into politics full time; since 2008, President of Paraguay.
