Fernando is currently the Head of Quantum Algorithms at Amazon Web Services and the Bren Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology. He works on quantum computing and quantum information science. He was awarded the 2020 American Physical Society Rolf Landauer and Charles H. Bennett award in quantum computing.
