Mr. Gao Jifan, a native of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Nanjing University in 1985 and a master’s degree in physical chemistry from Jilin University in 1988. Inspired by the Kyoto Protocol and the US Million Solar Roofs Initiative, Gao Jifan founded Trinasolar. In the past 28 years, Trinasolar has become the first PV and energy storage company listed on the STAR Market (Science and Technology Innovation Board) that integrates photovoltaic products, energy storage, system solutions, and digital energy services. Notably, the Company was named the first “Industry Shaper” for solar at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Over the years, Trinasolar received a series of prestigious awards at home and abroad.

In 2024, a research team led by Gao Jifan and a group formed by Professor Tan Hairen's team at Nanjing University published a research paper in Nature Communications (a sub-journal of Nature), a leading international academic journal，proposing for the first time a solvent engineering method for scalable fabrication of perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells in the air. So far, under the leadership of Gao Jifan, Trinasolar has broken or set new world records 35 times.

Gao Jifan holds a number of key roles, including the mentor of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum and founding member of the UNPD Private Sector Advisory Board. He also facilitated the establishment of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), in which he served as the first and second Chairman and currently holds the position of honorary chairman. He is currently Adjunct Professor at Fudan University，Executive Vice Chairman of China Energy Storage Industry Innovation Alliance, Vice President of the Board of Governors of China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association, and Vice Chairman of China Energy Internet Alliance, among others. In 2022, Gao Jifan was named one of Forbes China’s Best CEOs.

At major international events including the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Boao Forum for Asia, and B20, Gao Jifan has remained active and offered valuable insights to foster the high-quality development of the PV and energy storage industry.
