1987, degree in Economics, Faculty of Industrial Economics, Vilnius University; 1987-89, post-graduate studies, Faculty of Economics, Vilnius University. 1987-2004, lectured at the Faculty of Economics, Vilnius University. 1990-92, study programme, University of Mannheim, Germany; DAAD scholarship. 1993, Doctorate in Social Sciences. 1993-94, with the Lithuanian Competition Council as Head of the Financial Markets Department. 1994, political science internship, Bundestag in Bonn. 1994-96, with the Bank of Lithuania as Deputy Head of the Division for Methodology and Analysis in the Commercial Banks Supervision Department. 1996-2000, Director of the Monetary Policy Department at the Bank of Lithuania. 1998-2000, Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania. 2004, Adviser to President Valdas Adamkus. 2000-08, Adviser to the Chairman of AB Vilniaus Bankas. Since 2009, Associate Professor at Vilnius University International Business School. 2008-18, Adviser to the Chairman of SEB Bank and Chief Economist. Since 2019, took office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania.
