Bachelor's in Social Work, University of Manitoba; Master's in Public Administration, Queen's University, Toronto; PhD, London School of Economics. Former: Winnipeg City Councillor; university educator; worked with several community development organizations; Minister of Finance, balanced the province's budget 10 years in a row. 1999, first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba; re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Since 9 October 2009, Premier of Manitoba; has helped move Manitoba forward through a downturn in the global economy and a record-breaking flood, while building and improving schools, hospitals and family services.
