Bing Professor of Environmental Science and Co-Founder and Director of the Stanford Natural Capital Project, a global partnership that is integrating the values of nature into policy, finance, and management. Work has opened a systematic and pragmatic approach for quantifying the contributions of nature to people. The tools of the Natural Capital Project are now applied in 185 nations through its InVEST Software Platform. Recent books include: “The Power of Trees” (2012) and “Green Growth that Works: Natural Capital Policy and Finance Mechanisms Around the World” (2019). Elected Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences; has received international honours, including the Tyler Prize (2020), Blue Planet Prize (2017), and Volvo Environment Prize (2012).
