Haider Asfandiyar

Haider Asfandiyar is an activist for Climate Change, nature lover, a tennis follower and an ardent traveler. Haider has MSc in Construction Project Management from Loughborough University, UK. He advocates for sustainable living and sustainability in the built environment and has research expertise on "Skills needed for zero carbon development, decent work and SDGs". In June 2019, Haider was selected among 40 Global Shapers from around the globe, sponsored by World Economic Forum, to be trained by Al Gore- former Vice-President of USA to become the Climate Reality leader at the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training Project, at Brisbane, Australia. Haider also possesses the entrepreneurial spirit, which revolves around using energy mix and recyclable construction materials in built environments especially built homes, on the principles of circular economy. He is working on educating more people about converting traditional, polluted, boring cities into green, vibrant and sustainable cities where people would have less carbon footprint. He is currently working in the public sector -empowering private sector to invest in the zero-carbon development and mobility and is also involved in Regulatory modernization initiatives. Haider is venturing on green roofs in order to mitigate harmful effects of Heat Island Effect in the cities while battling Climate Change. This also has additional benefits like more greener, open spaces but most importantly to thrive local flora & fauna to thrive which also attracts native bees. Hence, making it environmentally friendly. Haider stands for causes like social justice, human rights and freedom of speech and education for all, last but not the least climate justice!
