Haruo Miyagi

President, ETIC (Entrepreneurial Training for Innovative Communities)

Haruo Miyagi is President of ETIC (Entrepreneurial Training for Innovative Communities). In 1993, when he studied at Waseda University in Japan, he founded ETIC as a nation-wide network of student entrepreneurs. In 1997, ETIC started a six-month internship programme at start-up ventures. In 2002, Mayagi established ETIC Social Venture Center, which has supported and trained over 300 young social entrepreneurs. He serves as a mentor for many of the entrepreneurs. As a public speaker, Miyagi has addressed over 200 conferences. After the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March 2011, ETIC opened its fellowship programme in the affected region.
