Hussain Abdullah

For nearly two decades, Hussain has served as a counselor to heads of government and their closest business allies, working across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

As Executive Director at the Tony Blair Institute’s government advisory platform, he works directly with presidents and prime ministers to strengthen strategic decision-making across economic, political, foreign, and national security policy issues.

He's helped conceptualize and incubate flagship national initiatives- including a US$100 billion artificial intelligence plan, a US$15 billion infrastructure and logistics program, and a US$43 billion space initiative, all aimed at driving large-scale economic transformations. In addition, he's led "national champions" programs, driven reforms at state-owned enterprises, and supported privatization efforts across several jurisdictions.

Hussain has also played key roles shaping sovereign investment partnerships involving the U.S., U.K., EU, China, India, Japan, and the GCC, helping governments co-invest, align strategic agendas, and manage competing interests. He has been a trusted advisor to heads of state preparing for major summits like the G20, COP, NATO, UNGA, and QUAD- and has supported multiple national elections, multilateral leadership bids, and global event campaigns.

Alongside his work with governments, Hussain also advises private investors- especially in energy, infrastructure, natural resources, media, telecoms, and technology- on entering complex markets, managing political risk, and building aligned, long-term partnerships.

He has advised on a range of transactions in politically sensitive environments, including telecom acquisitions, renewables portfolios, mining assets, and media holdings.

Earlier in his career, Hussain worked at Booz Allen Hamilton in New York and Washington D.C., across the firm’s foreign affairs and financial services practices. Previously, he'd had stints at a growth equity firm, the United Nations, and a foreign policy think tank.
