A former Government Senator, Co-Executive Director of Jamaica’s leading think tank, the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI), and Group Strategy Officer for the JMMB Group – a leading Caribbean financial services group, Imani Duncan-Price exhibits a record of successful leadership. As former Chief of Staff in the ‘Office of the Leader of the Opposition’ in Jamaica she supported then Opposition Leader and People’s National Party (PNP) President, Dr. Phillips, in policy formulation with a focus on inclusive growth.
With Imani’s passion for social innovation and impact, she recently established the ‘Imani, Grace and Love’ Foundation focusing on Women’s Economic Empowerment and Affordable Dignified Housing. She also continues her social justice activism supporting the Jamaica Household Workers Union and Jamaica Network of Rural Women Producers. As a development practitioner, Imani is also a Consultant with UN Women.
As an international management consultant, she focused on business cluster competitiveness, gender and social intervention. Imani also led extensive research and co-authored the case study, “Arrested Development: The Political Origins and Social Foundations of Common Violence in Jamaica”, published in 2008, Brooks World Poverty Institute Working Paper No. 46.
After her year as Miss Jamaica World 1995, Imani earned a BA from Wesleyan University and Masters in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
Named a Young Global Leader 2015, Eisenhower Fellow 2018, Global Governance Forum Fellow 2021 and Vital Voices Public Leadership Fellow 2021, Imani is married to Stephen and mother of three young children, Aidan, Marley and Selah.
She has, in her career, served as an international management consultant focused on the areas of business strategy, cluster competitiveness, gender strategy and social intervention, as well as co-authored extensive research on the origins of Kingston's inner-city violence, a theme she had previously explored for her Master's thesis. Indeed, Duncan-Price is a committed advocate for social and economic development, with a special focus on women's empowerment, and transforming the Jamaican economy with new industries such as medical cannabis to drive inclusive growth. After completing her year focused on sustainability and violence reduction issues as Miss Jamaica World 1995, she earned an interdisciplinary BA in Economics, History, Government and Philosophy from Wesleyan University in the USA. Imani then attended Harvard University for her Masters where, as an International Development student, she co-founded AIDS-targeting NGO "Global Justice", whilst also working with the World Bank on the issue of gender and economic development.
In recognition of her leadership, Imani was named amongst 50UnderFifty Business Leaders Shaping Jamaica's Future by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) in 2013, a Young Global Leader in 2015 and an Eisenhower Fellow 2018. Imani Duncan-Price is married to Stephen and a happy and tired mother of three.
