Global Shaper, Istanbul Hub

İrem is a consultant, researcher, and multidisciplinary leader working at the intersection of innovation, climate change, social impact, and emerging global challenges. She is the associate producer of the Climate Extremes documentary series, which has reached over two million viewers globally by translating complex climate science into accessible, neutral storytelling that helps bridge science, industry, and the public.

She currently serves as Head of Programs at Maynger Collective, an impact VC active in the Levant region, supporting entrepreneurship ecosystems with a particular focus on startups in Syria.

A scientist-turned-consultant, she previously worked at PwC as a workforce consultant, along with organizational development projects across sectors she also contributed to people sustainability projects such as writing the gender and skills transformation sections of Türkiye’s low carbon transition pathways for aluminum and cement industries and writing the Human Rights section for the Turkish Football Federation’s EURO2032 bid (won), designed to create a just, inclusive, healthy and safe environment. Additionally, she conducted EQUAL-SALARY audits globally, helping companies improve gender pay equity.

İrem is an active member of the Global Shapers Community through the Istanbul Hub. She was part of the inaugural cohort of GFN's Future50 program. She represented the community at WEF Annual Meeting 2024 as part of DAVOS50.

She is also the Co-Founder of Climate Reality Project İstanbul Hub and she is part of the consultation group on youth engagement organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change for COP31 planning.

Her work focuses on fostering collaborative, intergenerational climate action that is scientifically grounded, socially inclusive, and economically viable.
