Former: Senior Vice-President, Corporate Development, Nextel; senior manager, Comcast Corporation; consultant, McKinsey and Company; banker, First Chicago Corporation. 1998-2008, elected to three terms as State Treasurer, implementing innovative programmes aimed at cutting spending and improving fiscal responsibility. 2009, took office as Governor of Delaware. Has worked to create and keep Delaware jobs in a range of industries. Has made education a top priority. Has focused on running state government efficiently and effectively. Chair, National Governors Association (NGA). Co-Chair, Common Core Standards Initiative. Board Member, National Assessment Governing Board.
