Jahanara is currently Assistant Vice President at GE Healthcare in Kenya. Focusing on healthcare financing, she works with private as well as public sector customers across Sub Saharan Africa to design and increase access to financing. With smaller healthcare providers Jahanara assists them in articulating and developing business models such that they can attract traditional financing, investors and alternative sources of funding. Prior this role, Jahanara worked in Canada within finance and business development at GE. In 2017 however she chose to return home with the intention of making an impact in the community and country in which she grew up.
Outside of work Jahanara is passionate about youth empowerment and has been a dedicated member of the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board Kenya. Her role on the board is to develop programs focused on youth empowerment, leadership development and capacity building. Most recently she has established a mentorship program, through which mentors become International Coaching Federation certified and trained to focus on holistic student development, self awareness and tackling contemporary issues facing students today. This program now hosts it's second cohort and brings over 50 Kenyan youth together.
In addition Jahanara has been a facilitator for the Ivey Business Schools LEADER program through which she taught 3 week immersive business fundamentals courses for entrepreneurs in Haiti and Russia. This course included coaching entrepreneurs and conducting training on idea generation, marketing, finance, operations,etc.
