Jamiu Olamilekan Akande is a London-based cybersecurity consultant and PhD candidate at the NSU Centre for Cyberspace. With more than a decade of technical experience, his work spans private-sector organisations, government agencies and diplomatic missions across three continents—Nigeria, the UAE and the UK.

Recognised as an Exceptional Young Leader by the World Economic Forum, Jamiu served as Co-Curator of the Birmingham Global Shapers, where he led a team of impact-driven professionals. As a leadership coach and former President of the Urban Professionals Toastmasters Club, he has mentored diverse professionals to sharpen their communication and leadership skills.

A serial entrepreneur and innovator, Jamiu has launched multiple startups and holds several patent-pending ideas. He is founder of OpenSource in Cybersecurity (www.opensourceincyber.org), through which he empowers startup founders and SMEs to implement cost-effective defences against global cyber threats. He holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Cybersecurity and numerous industry certifications, and has been honoured with local and international awards and featured in leading media outlets.
