Professor Eberly's research focuses on finance and macroeconomics. Her current work emphasizes intangible investment and its role in promoting economic growth.
Professor Eberly served as the Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the U.S. Treasury from 2011 to 2013 after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate. She was the Chief Economist at the Treasury, leading the Office of Economic Policy in analysis of the U.S. and global economies and financial markets. She has served as an advisor to US Federal Reserve banks, and as editor of economics, finance, and policy-related publications.
Professor Eberly is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, and a Sloan Foundation Research Fellow. She is President-elect of the American Economic Association in 2026 and received her Phd in Economics from MIT.
