Jason Rissman

Managing Director, IDEO

Jason brings 20+ years of experience growing businesses, innovation ecosystems and impact programs amidst societal change.

As Managing Director, Jason helps lead IDEO’s climate practice, supporting our partners in developing the strategies, teams and innovations needed for the climate transition. Jason previously led IDEO’s open innovation business (OpenIDEO), overseeing programs related to food systems / food waste, renewable energy, circular economy and several other topics. Jason thrives in developing impact and investment strategies, supporting entrepreneurs, and building communities around societal problems.

Jason is also the host and founder of the podcast Invested in Climate, recently ranked in the top 20 by GoodPods for both the Career and Finance categories.

Jason is a regular contributor and facilitator for events like the World Economic Forum Sustainable Impact Summit, SOCAP and Social Innovation Summit. He is the founder of a Bay Area network of a social impact / CSR leaders and a member of the philanthropic community Nexus. Jason is also an active climate tech investor and startup advisor.

Prior to his role at IDEO, Jason helped managed Google.org’s renewable energy investment portfolio, led partnerships for Google PowerMeter, and built partner and launch strategies for several other Google products addressing issues like civic engagement, natural disaster response, endangered language protection, Internet access expansion, and illicit network prevention.

Jason received his MBA from the New York University’s Stern School of Business and a BA from Cornell University.
