Jeff Jianfeng Cao, a senior research fellow at Tencent Research Institute. Mr. Cao is also a Distinguished Researcher at ECUPL Digital Law Institute, a Guest Professor at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, a researcher at UIBE Research Center of Digital Economy and Legal Innovation, a member of CAAI Ethics and Governance Working Committee, and a member of the Council of Information & Communication Law Branch of Guangdong Province Law Society. His research focuses on policy, legal, ethical, and societal issues related to frontier digital technologies and digital economy, such as AI ethics and governance, platform regulation, data protection, blockchain & metaverse regulation, legal tech & digital justice, digital IP, governance of global digital economy, etc. He is a frequent speaker at top-level AI conferences, and he has published hundreds of papers and articles on top-level journals, newspapers, and media. His experience in China’s internet & tech industry, his contact with policy makers, and his connection with academia help him see the many issues around artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies from a holistic and systematic way.
