Jibikeoluwa Faborode

Global Shaper, Abuja Hub

I currently serve as the Equity and Inclusion Chair with the Abuja Hub. I am an international development professional and social inclusion advocate with a seven (7) year service history of leading innovation, connecting leaders to opportunities, managing programs that solve complex social challenges and championing the inclusion of marginalised groups. My career spans the private, public and non-profit sectors, where I have self-started and mobilised teams to steer interventions towards delivering people-centred systemic change. I have significant experience managing efficient program delivery and policy advocacy across themes such as: inclusive education, economic growth, human rights, conflict prevention, sexual and gender-based violence, post-conflict stabilisation and reintegration, and public safety and security.

Currently working for the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in Nigeria, I lead the design and implementation of policy-driven programs that mainstream traditionally excluded and vulnerable groups (including millions of women, children and internally displaced people) in conflict and non-conflict settings. My work also covers leading advocacy and strategic stakeholder coordination with the wider diplomatic community, cilvil society and host government. As a policy and programs delivery expert, I use analytical skills to coordinate the integration of social protection, intersectionality, conflict and gender sensitivity in development and humanitarian interventions targeting the Sahel Region (particularly North-East Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin). Future career interests, within and beyond Africa, involve work around the protection of vulnerable people (women and children) in conflict and non-conflict settings, post-conflict recovery and reduction of inequalities in human capital development (particularly for persons with disabilities).
