Jonathan is an Impact Investor and a Social Entrepreneur. Jonathan's real passion is to impact the world positively through finance. Through the projects Jonathan is involved he was able to introduce the concept of 'Social Entrepreneurship' and 'Impact Investing' to the masses of Sri-Lanka.
Jonathan is a global thought leader and subject matter expert on impact investing and social entrepreneurship. Jonathan is a key resource person to development organizations such as USAID, UNDP, KOICA and DFAT. Jonathan is also a guest lecturer on the subject of impact investing at the Macquarie University, Australia and at the CFA Institute.
Currently, Jonathan Heads the Investment Banking Unit at Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) helping impact SME’s in the developing countries to raise capital and he is also the product lead for the Digital platform (Impact Partners 3.0) that connects impact investors to impact enterprises. This is the world’s first crowdfunding platform for impact enterprises with over 500+ impact enterprises and 1000+ impact investors listed.
Further, Jonathan serves as the Founder Director of Investments and Strategy at Lanka Impact Investing Network (LIIN), at LIIN Jonathan established Sri Lanka's number one business program which is a Reality show on National Television 'Ath-Pavura' that showcases Social Entrepreneurs/Enterprises pitching their ideas to Impact Investors for Equity Funding. Where over 500,000 USD worth of Impact Equity Investments have been made to date and eventually created the first impact investors of Sri Lanka. Jonathan worked towards the LIIN-UNDP partnership to set up first and only Impact Funds of Sri-Lanka namely Social Entrepreneurship Fund (First of its kind in the world) and a Social Impact Fund (First in Sri-Lanka). The Social Entrepreneurship Fund was recognized as one of best private sector initiatives in the year 2018 at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Currently Jonathan is working with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Global Steering Group (GSG) for Impact Investing to set up the National Advisory Board for Impact Investing. Jonathan created Emerging Women's Summit (EWS) a Networking Platform that links female Social Entrepreneurs to female Impact Investors to Bridge the Gap in Gender Lens Investing.
Jonathan is currently spearheading a key project at LIIN building the Platform for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (PIE). Through the platform underserved entrepreneurs will be made inclusive especially women and marginalized youth.
Jonathan is a Global Shaper and the Out-Going curator for the year 2020-21 representing the Colombo Hub and a serial social entrepreneur with one successful exit.
