Judith Pinedo Flórez

Lawyer, University of Cartagena. Specialist in human rights, public law and political and economical studies. Formerly: Councilwoman, Personera; Procurator, Department of Bolivar; Secretary of Social Development, Cartagena; Director, FUNCICAR, a local organization seeking to fight corruption and promote good values for citizenship; implemented programmes for strengthening democracy, such as Observatory of the Council of Cartagena, those related to rendition of public information, and establishing community leaders; introduced Cartagena Como Vamos project, which monitors socioeconomic information in the city; 2007, stood for Mayor on behalf of independent political party, Por una Sola Cartagena, becoming first female mayor and first independent candidate to win.
