Working in a large multidisciplinary team of researchers, the group’s focus is the development and testing of new exercise and rehabilitation interventions that aim to reduce the burden of stroke related disability. A leading stroke rehabilitation trialist in Australia, recently completing the largest international trial of early mobility-based rehabilitation ever conducted (AVERT), which included over 2,000 patients from five countries. Director, NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery, which includes an interdisciplinary programme of work from bench (discovery) to bedside (implementation), aiming to transform how stroke recovery research is done in Australia.
