Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (known as KCR) is an Indian political leader who is the first and the current Chief Minister of the Indian state of Telangana, which was created in 2014 and which includes the city of Hyderabad.

KCR led a decade long grassroots struggle for the creation of Telangana, which was an underdeveloped region that was originally part of the state of Andhra Pradesh. He is president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, (TRS) a regional party in India, which won a majority in the 2014 elections in Telangana. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Gajwel constituency of Telangana. Previously, he served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and also as the Member of Parliament from the combined Andhra Pradesh state, initially with the Telugu Desam Party and later with the TRS.
