PhD in Economics, Harvard University. Since 1966, conducted energy, environment, and transportation projects in many US regions, including Appalachia, New Orleans, and Los Angeles and in China, Brazil, Iran and other countries; 1990s, collaborators included anthropologists, chemical engineers, energy, environmental, and transportation planners, lawyers, physicists, and public-health scholars; 1995-2000, President, International Input-Output Association (IIOA); 1995-2006, Head, International Development and Regional Planning Group, DUSP; well-known in China as prominent input-output economist. Director, Multiregional Planning research team and Peter deFloriz professor. Fellow: IIOA: Regional Science Association International. Author of eight books and numerous articles in economic and planning journals. Recipient of Sloan Industry Studies Best Book Award (2008).
