Lara Dong joined IHS Markit GPE team in Beijing as Senior Director, leading the Greater China Power & Renewables research. Lara plays a key role in Asia regional as well as global power and renewables research as she focuses on China’s power and renewables markets and policies.
 
Prior to joining IHS Markit, Lara spent 8 years at Rio Tinto, most recently as Principal Advisor, working on commodity market fundamentals and generating China policy insight in areas such as coal resources and electric power for aluminum smelting. In her role at Rio Tinto, Lara led global coal price forecast and multiple cross-commodity research projects covering a variety of policies such as industrial policy, environmental policy and SOE reform.

Prior to Rio Tinto, she worked in both Noble and BHP Billiton as Analysts with cross-commodity research responsibilities. Earlier in her career she was Debt Market Research Analyst at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto.

Lara holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Xiamen University and MBA from the University of Toronto. Lara is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
