Liz Kakooza is a dynamic leader and social innovator driving transformative change across health, policy, and governance in Africa. With over a decade of experience in communications, policy, and advocacy, she champions youth engagement, mental health, and wellbeing as key pillars of development.As Founder of MindLab, Liz leads efforts to reframe Africa’s mental health narrative through policy advocacy, systems innovation, and community-driven action. Her work integrates indigenous knowledge, evidence-based frameworks, and youth participation to promote mental and social wellbeing across the continent.Beyond mental health, Liz’s work bridges global health and innovation. Through initiatives like Catalyst Health, she supports equitable healthcare access by leveraging technology and cross-sector collaboration. Her mission is rooted in advancing health equity and reimagining wellbeing as a development imperative.A Global Shaper alumna (Davos 50) and member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on the Care Economy and contributed to the first white paper on Care, Liz contributes to shaping global conversations on social mobility, gender parity, and the future of care. She has previously curated the Kampala Hub and served on the Global Advisory Council representing Africa and MENA, supporting youth-led civic leadership and collective action.Master of Global Health programme at ISGlobal–University of Barcelona, Liz is also an alumna of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, YALI Regional Leadership Center, and Young and Emerging Leaders Project (LeO Africa Institute). These experiences have shaped her belief in leadership grounded in empathy, collaboration, and community.Known for her authenticity and storytelling, Liz brings warmth and depth to every space she enters, bridging people, ideas, and movements toward a shared goal of inclusive, lasting impact.
