Margherita Barbieri

Margherita Barbieri is Climate & Energy Senior Standards Manager at Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), where she led the update of GRI 102 Climate Change and GRI 103 Energy Standards, including corporate sustainability reporting on GHG emissions, transition and adaptation strategies, GHG emissions reduction targets, just transition, carbon credits, GHG removals and energy consumption. She represents GRI at Climate & Biodiversity COPs and the G20 and G7. Before joining GRI, Margherita worked in the food and beverage industry, specializing in marketing and sustainability. She also collaborates with climate-related organizations and initiatives such as the GHG Protocol, CDP, SBTi, ISO and ITPN.
She holds an International Relations MA degree from the University of Turin, a teaching assistantship at the University of British Columbia (Canada) and two Executive Programmes ad Oxford University on leading sustainable corporations and leadership.
She led the circular economy initiative Scale 360° in Turin.
She is also part of Italian Climate Network, where she writes bulletins and article on climate (UNFCCC) and biodiversity (CBD) COPs policy takeaways for non-technical audience.
Her main interests include climate change, environment, biodiversity, the public and private cooperation, economic inequality, global affairs, international organizations, sustainability, the future of business and the role of corporations within the contemporary society
