Graduate, University of Tokyo. 1986, joined the then Home Affairs Ministry. Held a number of posts, including a stint with the Finance Ministry. 2001, joined the Fukushima prefectural government. From 2006, Vice-Governor of Fukushima. October 2014, elected Governor of Fukushima. October 2018, re-elected Governor of Fukushima. Has made steady progress of reconstruction frameworks by taking a leadership and taken an initiative on renewable energy and the robot industry as an engine of reconstruction. As the governor of Fukushima, has emphasized to share Fukushima’s experience and lessons learnt to contribute to international community.
