Mercedes Aráoz

Bachelor’s in Economics, Universidad del Pacífico; MSc in Economics and PhD candidate, University of Miami. Peruvian economist and politician. 2006, appointed Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism; then briefly Minister of Production; 2009, appointed Minister of Economy and Finance, the first woman in Peruvian history to hold this office. 2011, ran for President, representing the outgoing government party. 2011-15, country representative for the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), Mexico City. Since 2016, Second Vice-President of the Republic of Peru and Member of Congress; since September 2017, President of the Council of Ministers. Since August 2017, Extraordinary Commissioner for Peru's Engagement with the OECD.
