2013, joined Omidyar Network to establish the Intellectual Capital practice, Member of the Investment Committee, led strategy development, advised on research, published the firm’s learnings, and led incubation and development of new frontier areas for impact for investment; March 2018, appointed Managing Partner. Nearly 30 years of emerging-markets experience across private and public sectors. Expertise includes strategy, innovation, impact investing and businesses focused on low- and lower-middle income markets in developing economies. Interested in broad effects of digital technology on society; has led efforts to explore and understand the continuum of its impact, from the promises of increased access to services via mobile phones and digital identity to the threats of trampling on privacy and bypassing those who are not digitally connected. Formerly: Partner, Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte); more than ten years covering sectors including telecom, satellite, and internet services; 2007, co-founded and led the Monitor Inclusive Markets practice; with the World Bank, IFC and and a start-up company in the telecoms sector. Chair, Better than Cash Alliance; Vice-Chair, EMPEA’s Impact Investing Council. Taught a class on emerging-market impact investing, Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies.
