Nadia Maqbool is an architect, entrepreneur and systems thinker working at the intersection of culture, foresight and sustainable development. She is the first UK-qualified female architect to receive professional recognition from both the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) within the Sultanate of Oman.
As Co-Founder and CEO of 23 Degrees North — the first Omani-owned, professionally recognized architectural practice in the Sultanate — Nadia has built an award-winning studio recognized for delivering world-class design while nurturing the next generation of Omani creative talent. The firm received the National Entrepreneurship Award, reflecting its contribution to building a resilient and high-performance creative ecosystem.
Named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and recognized multiple times by the MEED Industry Awards for architecture, leadership and best practice, Nadia’s work extends beyond design into institution-building and cultural transformation. A graduate of Oman’s prestigious National CEO Program and a member of the Sharakah task force, she contributes to shaping entrepreneurial and leadership frameworks in growth markets.
Nadia’s architectural philosophy is rooted in the belief that culture, collective memory and sustainability are not constraints, but generative forces. Her work explores how built environments can embody identity, anticipate change and create long-term societal value.
She works fluently in Arabic, English and Spanish, and speaks her ancestral Lawati language — reflecting her commitment to preserving cultural continuity while shaping future cities.
