Nadya Saib

Alumni, Global Shapers Community

Nadya Saib graduated in 2009 as a pharmacist from Bandung Institute of Technology. In her last year in college, she received the Dean’s List of Outstanding Accomplishment award. In 2008, together with two friends, Nadya conducted research on natural beauty products, focusing on natural soaps, which led to the founding of Wangsa Jelita, literally means "the beautiful dynasty." The team then came up with a social enterprise plan in 2010. Having supported by British Council and Arthur Guinness Fund, they give the rose farmers community new skills to process the roses. The team also conducts a fair trade practice which results an alternative market for the rose farmer—giving them more bargaining power to middlemen. Under their care, Wangsa Jelita has grown to be the top 100 Indonesian social enterprises in 2015 according to a national business magazine, SWA Magazine. To date, Wangsa Jelita has partnered with many groups of local communities in many parts of the country—from farmers to artisans—while expanding the business of offering natural personal care products. Nadya also serves Ashoka--a global nonprofit organization that supports social innovators, as a Consultant. Nadya is an active contributor and frequent speaker on social entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and natural beauty products formulation. She is a strong advocate of well-being and also committed to promote it through everything she does.
