Minister of Mineral Resources of the Republic of South Africa since 26 May 2014. Member of National Executive Council (NEC) of African National Congress (ANC) since 1991. Served as Deputy Minister of Correctional Services from 2010 to 2014. Served as Premier of Limpopo province from 1994 to 2004. Chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo from 1994 to 2004. Admitted as an Advocate to the Bar of Lesotho in 1997 and to the Bar of South Africa in 2009. A student activist until he went into Exile, where he held several positions within the ANC. He returned from exile as a political secretary and speech writer to President of the ANC, OR Tambo.
