Noura Berrouba

Noura Berrouba is a Swedish civil society leader working on revitalizing democracy by creating ecosystems for people and civil society organisations to strengthen representation and systems of governance to tackle society’s big challenges with a broader set of voices and perspectives. Noura is president of the National Council of Swedish Children and Youth Organisations (LSU), the platform for the Swedish youth movement. LSU gathers over 80 national organisations who collectively mobilize over 650 000 children and young people.

She serves on the boards of CONCORD Sweden, Civil Rights Defenders, the Swedish Inheritance Fund, the Swedish-Norwegian fund, Höj Rösten School of Politics, the advisory committee of the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa and on the foundation board for the Global Shapers Community. Noura is a member and youth advisor and of the Generation Restoration Youth Hub, convened by 1t.org and the Global Landscapes Forum - Youth in Landscapes initiative.

Between 2017-2020 Noura served as a Member of the Governing Body of the European Youth Parliament (EYP), overseeing its strategic work on external partnerships, active citizenship, communication and welfare. 2020-2021 Noura spent two years with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, first in Brussels as in the foreign and security policy department at Sweden's Permanent Representation to the EU and later as Programme Officer at the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa.

Noura has provided expertise and advice to a variety of organisations, such as Apolitical Academy, Global Utmaning, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the UN Population Fund, and many civil society organisations and think tanks. In 2018, she was appointed to the Swedish Government’s Advisory Council for Environmentally Sustainable Consumption. In 2016, she was the official Swedish Youth Delegate to the United Nations, joining the Swedish Government delegation to the UN General Assembly and other high-level meetings.

Noura is a Global Shaper and former Vice-Curator of the Stockholm Hub. Noura served as Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos in 2019, highlighting the importance of civic participation and education. She is a frequent lecturer, panellist and commentator, and has been ranked among the top ten future policy-makers in Sweden. Noura studied public international law at the Swedish Defence University.
