Ondela Mlandu is versatile, innovative and a results-driven female with a broad skills-set. She is a Communications Specialists by profession with working experience in journalism, marketing, digital marketing, broadcasting, radio, and communications. Ondela is passionate about community development, gender, and human rights activism. Her vision is to promote a gender-equal society and an active and engaged citizenry. Her objective is to utilize her skills and experience to drive women empowerment initiatives in local communities aimed at educating, capacitating women and girls to lead social change at grassroots levels.
Ondela has contributed to several national newspapers and magazines such as the Mail & Guardian, a South African weekly newspaper, that focuses on political analysis, investigative reporting, Southern African news, local arts, music and popular culture. She has also contributed to True Love Magazine, an iconic South African fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine for black women. It is an indispensable accessory that inspires, entertains and advises modern African women.
Ondela has done broadcast journalism and podcasting for entrepreneurship platforms by compiling, editing, and proofreading content for start up companies. This exposure has lead Ondela to interview people in the emerging entrepreneur sector, helping her keep abreast of what is happening in the business, leadership and creativity sectors.
Through her work, Ondela wants to leave an imprint of impact, where leadership, skills, self confidence, knowledge and understanding of human rights and the impact of gender discrimination is instilled in young girls and women across the continent. As an individual, Ondela hopes to be a change agent when it comes to the representation of women in communities and organizations for women’s rights. Her plan is to create strategies that will eliminate gender based violence by creating impactful community activities estblished by women in South Africa.
