Pia Duran

Global Shaper, Davao Hub

Pia Duran uses art for impact. A filmmaker, author, and strategist who utilizes the power of storytelling to address pressing global challenges, including climate collapse, Indigenous displacement, gender injustice, and the protection of human rights. Her documentaries are not just films; they are movements. Backed by strategic impact campaigns, her work has supported frontline communities, raised awareness, and contributed to landmark policies, including the banning of child marriage and protection for human rights defenders in the Philippines.

She is currently lobbying for the recognition of sea nomads as an Indigenous group and for fair compensation and benefits for environment defenders who risk their lives on the climate frontlines. Her work has directly supported reforestation efforts in ancestral lands, equipped youth environmental defenders with tools and training, and spotlighted marginalized voices from Indigenous LGBTQ+ communities to women and children in war zones.

Pia’s impact storytelling workshops and mentorships empower young people to see themselves not just as subjects, but as storytellers and change agents.

Recognized globally, Pia is a Davos50 delegate at the World Economic Forum, a Young Global Changer Top 5 Finalist in Berlin, and a One World Media Fellow in the UK.

Through every story she tells, Pia reimagines a world that is compassionate, loving, and just for all.
