Founding Executive Director, Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI). Full Professor, Purdue University, Indiana; Inaugural Director, Global Engineering Programs, Purdue University. Focused on conserving natural resources that face global challenges such as increasing food and water supplies for a growing population. Developed environmental and natural resources conservation engineering programmes that evaluate the environmental impacts of land use and water management. Developed innovative soil and groundwater remediation technologies. Member: Global Agenda Council on Water Security and Global Agenda Council on Climate Change, World Economic Forum; Board of Governors, World Water Council. Author of over 200 publications including peer-reviewed articles and refereed conference proceedings, and book chapters. International research awards incl. Kishida International Award for contributions to agriculture research.
