Alumni, Global Shapers Community

A television host, journalist, writer, producer and publisher from the island of Jamaica, Raecine ‘Rae’ Williams plays many parts and is passionate about each one. A graduate of the University of Miami’s film program and Master’s graduate of University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill School of Journalism, Rae’s passion for sharing people’s stories comes through in every aspect of her life.

Her accomplishments include two student Emmy awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Capital Chapter, a fellowship with WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA and an award from the White House News Photographer’s Association.

After almost a decade in the United States and against the advice of many of her peers and role models, Rae chose to walk away from a number of great opportunities abroad return to Jamaica for the simple reason that she wanted to give back. She believed her country desperately needed the voice, impact and effort of her generation and believed her skill set and passion for her country's advancement could contribute to this.

Rae works in television, hosting the nation’s most watched entertainment program, and also works in publishing, helping authors share their influence and perspective with the world.
