Ramla currently works at the American Institute for Lankan Studies in Colombo as their Associate Director of Programming. She manages the institute's library, academic programming and digitization initiatives. Ramla is also a researcher in the field of History. Her interests include global urban history and the history of town planning.
She holds a degree in South Asian history from SOAS, London and has worked as a researcher on related projects with the British Museum, Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute in Colombo and the University of Kelaniya.
She hopes to someday take the Trans-Siberian Railway journey.
